With the death of her nephew Conrad II of Luxembourg in 1136, the question of succession in the possession of the family, especially the county of Luxembourg, became acute. The two surviving descendants of Konrad I were now in the line of succession: Luitgard (1120 † 1170), the sister of Konrad II, married to Heinrich II. Count von Grandpré , and Ermesinde, the daughter of Konrad I, who was in her second marriage Count Gottfried von Namur (1068 † 1139) was married.
King Conrad III. The county now transferred to Heinrich the Blind , the eldest son of Gottfried and Ermesindes, whereby he not only passed over Liutgard's claims (and thus prevented the county from falling to the French Counts of Grandpré), but also those of Ermesinde's son from their first Marriage to Count Hugo von Dagsburg.
