Walcourt is a Belgian municipality in the arrondissement of Philippeville in the province of Namur .
Districts
In addition to Walcourt, the municipality includes the districts of Berzée, Castillon, Chastrès, Clermont, Fontenelle, Fraire, Gourdinne, Laneffe, Pry, Rognée, Somzée, Tarcienne, Thy-le-Château, Vogenée and Yves-Gomezée.
Town twinning
A partnership with the Schleswig-Holstein city of Ratzeburg has existed since 1969 .
historical event
On August 25, 1689, troops from the Netherlands and England defeated the army of Louis XIV of France in the battle of Walcourt near the city .
