Onhaye ( pronunciation : [ ɔ̃ɛ ]) is a municipality in the province of Namur in the Walloon part of Belgium .

In addition to Onhaye, the municipality consists of the districts Anthée, Falaën, Gerin, Serville, Sommière and Weillen .

Onhaye's partner municipality is Le Tholy in the Vosges . The Belgian politician Christophe Bastin has been Mayor of Onhaye since 2007.

During the First World War there was fighting between German and French troops in the area around Onhaye. On August 23, 1914, German troops crossed the Meuse near Onhaye. On the night of August 23-24, 1914, there was heavy fighting between German units and French units withdrawn from Onhaye.

Attractions

The ruins of Montaigle Castle from the 14th century are located northeast of the Falaën district. In 1808, the Saint-Martin church was built in Onhaye.

Personalities

The Belgian doctor and writer Adam Gerard (* 1946) was born in Onhaye.
