Gedinne is a Belgian municipality in the district of Dinant in the province of Namur .

geography

The municipality borders from the east on the French tip, which extends along the Meuse far north. The core town of Gedinne is 350 m above sea level in a shallow basin on the plateau of the Ardennes on the Houille , which flows into the Meuse at Givet , the northernmost French town on the river.

In the 1939 church of the Nativity of Christ (Église de la Nativité) of the village there is a retable from the 16th century, which comes from the previous church. Not far from Gedinne is the 60 m high Tour du Millénaire observation tower .

On September 10, 1986, an F-16 A fighter aircraft of the Belgian Air Force crashed in the Bourseigne-Vieille district. The pilot Lieutenant Yvan Stoffijn is killed.
