history

In June 1940, in the hamlet of Brûly-de-Pesche, the Führer headquarters Wolfsschlucht 1 was located , from which Hitler commanded the last phase of his French campaign. At that time, Brûly-de-Pesche comprised three houses, a hostel, a school, church and rectory as well as a few farms. Its 119 residents were evacuated within three hours on May 28, 1940. Hitler had a bunker built here, but he only entered it once to confirm that it was completed. On June 28, 1940, Hitler finally withdrew.
