Robert Price

Robert Johannes Preis (born August 8, 1972 in Graz ) is an Austrian journalist and writer .

Life

Robert Preis was born in Graz in 1972. After graduating from the HTBLA Ortweingasse for decorative design, he studied journalism and ethnology at the University of Vienna from 1992. During this time he worked as an intern and freelancer for numerous media companies. After completing his studies in 1998, he worked for two years as a civil servant abroad in the "Center for Peace, Non-violence and Human Rights" in Osijek . Among other things, he was co-founder of the youth magazine “Burek”. He has been the editor of the Kleine Zeitung since 2000 and lives with his family near Graz.

Artistic creation

His first novel, Schatten über Anderswo (2007), was in the fantasy genre, and in 2009 he switched to the historical novel with The Rumor of Death , and also wrote numerous anthology articles and non-fiction books before he wrote his first crime novel in 2012 - Consolation and Games . The story about the Graz LKA chief investigator Armin Trost was continued in 2013 in Graz in the dark . The other parts: Die Geister von Graz (2014), Der Engel von Graz (2015) and Grazer Wut (2017). Part 6 - Death dances in Graz - will be published in autumn 2019. Preis graduated from the Munich script workshop at the University of Film and Television (born 2015/2016).

Literary business

Robert Preis is the curator of the "International Street Glider Literature Festival", which has been held annually in the Styrian community of Gratwein-Straßengel since 2009 and has so far had more than 40 authors as guests. The festival is part of the program of the K3 cultural association.

He is also the initiator of the Graz “FINE CRIME-Krimifestival ™”, which has been taking place in Graz since 2015. As of 2019, the "Fine Crime Award sponsored by Energie Steiermark", endowed with 5000 euros, will be given to outstanding crime writers.
