Robert Rossbruch

Robert Roßbruch (* 1953 ) is a German lawyer , university professor , lawyer and Vice President of the German Society for Human Dying (DGHS).

Life

Roßbruch studied law, political science and philosophy. Since 1990 he has worked as a law lecturer for several institutes and universities and also founded a law firm in 1990. He was heard several times as an expert by the authorities, the Bundestag and the state parliaments. He is editor of the magazine PflegeRecht .

Since 2009 he has been an honorary professor for health and care law at the Saarland University of Applied Sciences (htw Saar). He is Vice President of the German Society for Human Dying (DGHS) and advisory board of the Institute for Weltanschauungsrecht (ifw).

Roßbruch campaigns for a strengthening of personal autonomy at the end of life and for a decriminalization of euthanasia . In the constitutional complaints against Section 217 of the German Criminal Code , introduced by the Bundestag in 2015 , he was the legal representative of Uwe-Christian Arnold, among others . In February 2020, the Federal Constitutional Court declared the penal norm to be unconstitutional and null and void. He welcomed the court's decision to legalize professional euthanasia.
