Robert Schneider (* July 20, 1868 in Höchst ; † January 3, 1945 there ) was an Austrian politician ( CSP ), farmer, sticker and community leader. From 1919 to 1923 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament and from 1909 to 1931 mayor of Höchst.

Schneider attended elementary school in Höchst and worked professionally as a farmer and sticker.

Politics and functions

Schneider was a member of the Christian Social Party and a founding member of the Höchst Nursing Association. He was sworn in as a member of the Vorarlberg Landtag as a member of the Bregenz constituency on June 17, 1919 and was initially a member of the finance committee in 1919. In the 1920/21 session he was a member of the Committee for Roads and Hydraulic Structures and the Constitutional Committee; in the year of the session he was also a member of the Committee for Road and Hydraulic Structures. Most recently, Schneider was a member of the subsidy committee and a member of the legal committee in the 1923 session. Robert Schneider was involved for a long time in the local politics of his home municipality Höchst and acted there from 1909 to 1931 as community leader. Schneider left the state parliament on November 5, 1923 at the end of the 11th legislative period.

Private

Schneider was the son of the highest farmer Josef Schneider (1822-1896) and his wife Maria Anna Agnes Hollenstein (1831-1894), born in Lustenau. Robert Schneider married Maria Sofie Gehrer (1868–1927) on April 2, 1894 in St. Jodok am Brenner and between 1895 and 1904 had eight children. Like his father, his son Rudolf Schneider was active in the local politics of Höchst, who held the office of mayor between 1950 and 1960. His son Fritz Schneider was again district captain of Feldkirch between 1947 and 1951 and regional office director of Vorarlberg from 1951 to 1955 .
