Robert Seaman

Robert Livingston Seaman (* 1822 in Catskill , New York ; † March 11, 1904 ) was an American millionaire and industrialist. He was the husband of investigative journalist Elizabeth Cochran (better known as Nellie Bly ), whom he married in Chicago in 1895 .

Robert Seaman was born in Catskill, Greene County, New York to William and Ellen Seaman; he owned the Ironclad Manufacturing Company , which flourished under the leadership of his wife during his lifetime and several years after his death. Later, however, the company was ruined by embezzlement by employees and his wife was forced to return to journalism.
