Robert Sewell

Robert Sewell (* 1845 ; † 1925 ) was an official in colonial India . He is the author of the book A Forgotten Empire (Vijayanagar): A Contribution to the History of India . His main focus was on researching the history of Vijayanagar , a Hindu kingdom in southern India that existed from 1336/46 to 1565, in particular the fall of Hampi , the capital of this empire.

Sewell also translated The Vijayanagar Empire as seen by Domingo Paes and Fernao Nuniz , eyewitness accounts of the Vijayanagar Empire by Portuguese travelers to India from the 16th century .
