Robert Sténuit

Robert Sténuit (* 1933 in Brussels ) is a Belgian author , diver and underwater archaeologist .

Life

As an author, Sténuit wrote several books about his discoveries in underwater archeology . In September 1962 he took part as a diver in the Man in Sea project , an underwater station run by Edwin Link . In 1967 he was involved in the discovery of the Spanish shipwreck Girona , which was part of the Spanish Armada . In 1975 he was involved as a diver in the localization of the Dutch merchant ship Slot ter Hoog , which sank off the island of Madeira in 1724 . In 1977, as a diver, he discovered the shipwreck Witte Leeuw , which, as a Dutch merchant ship, had loaded spices and Ming porcelain.
