Robert Thoben (born November 17, 1963 in Lindern (Oldenburg) ) is a former German football player .
Career
Thoben played after promotion with SV Meppen from the Oberliga Nord to the 2nd Bundesliga in 1987 for eleven years with the Emsländer in the second-highest German division. The former attacker is the club's record scorer in the 2nd Bundesliga with 61 goals. After relegation in 1998, he played for another year in the Regionalliga Nord with Meppen and then moved to league rivals Eintracht Nordhorn . From 2000 and 2005 to 2012 he played for the second team of SV Meppen and trained them at the same time, together with Josef Menke .
