Robert Zollinger

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robert Zollinger (born May 10, 1858 in Zurich- Riesbach; died October 21, 1939 in Zurich) was a Swiss architect of historicism who gained importance above all for his school buildings in Zurich and also with a number of houses on the Zurichberg helped shape the Kurhaus area.

Life

There is no evidence of Zollinger's training and early career, but from the 1890s onwards Zollinger built in Zurich and in the middle of the following decade was counted among the leading architects in Zurich who opposed Gustav Gull's urban planning. From 1906 to 1933 he was a member of the commission and the committee for building construction anomalies of the SIA, which was responsible for the basic standards in the Swiss construction industry.
