Robert Zydenbos

Robert Zydenbos (* 1957 in Toronto ) is a Canadian Indologist .

Life

He studied at the Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht (doctorandus 1983, doctor 1989). He was a visiting professor at the University of Madras in 1987 and a visiting professor at the University of Toronto from 1992-1993. He did research in India for a. a. the Netherlands Foundation for Tropical Research, the Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen , the Institut Français de Pondichéry . Since 2000 he has been Professor of Modern Indology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

His research and teaching focuses on Jainism , Indian philosophy , Kannada and Kannada literature and the history and culture of South India, especially Karnatakas .
