Robert de Holand (knight)
Sir Robert de Holand (also Robert Holland , † between 1302 and 1305) was an English knight .
He came from the Holland family and was the eldest son and heir of Sir Thurstan de Holand , lord of Upholland in Lancashire, from his first marriage to Margret, daughter of Adam de Kellet, lord of Nether Kellet in Lancashire.
1282 he was appointed Knight beaten . When his father died, between 1286 and 1293, he inherited his property. In addition to Upholland, he owned the Hale and Orrel estates and other lands in Lancashire.
He married Elizabeth, daughter and Coerbin of Sir William de Samlesbury (1227–1256), Lord of Samlesbury in Lancashire. From the right of his wife he acquired income rights in 1292 and 1302 at the Harwood estate in Lancashire. With her he had at least three sons and a daughter:
- Robert de Holand, 1st Baron Holand (around 1283-1328);
- Adam Holland;
- William Holland;
- Avena Holland ⚭ Adam Austyn, from Ireland.
He is last recorded in 1302, and died in 1305 at the latest when his son Robert appears as the owner of his land.
