Roberto Fernández , full name Roberto Nicolás Fernández Fagúndez , (born March 2, 1998 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.78 meter tall defensive player Fernández played in youth football since 2012 for Centro Atlético Fénix . Via the teams of the Septima División (2012), the Sexta División (2013), the U-16s (2014) and the Quinta División (2015), he joined the reserve team of the Tercera División in 2015. He made his debut in the Primera División in Apertura 2015 on October 24, 2015 in a 1-1 draw against Montevideo Wanderers , when he was substituted on by coach Rosario Martínez in the 86th minute for Raúl Ferro . In the 2015/16 season he played 15 first division matches (no goal). In the current 2016 season, he has so far (as of September 11, 2016) played in a game (no goal) of the Copa Sudamericana 2016 .

National team

Fernández celebrated his debut in the Uruguayan U-15 national team coached by Alejandro Garay in a 3-0 win in the friendly against Tajikistan on May 29, 2013 . He took part with the team at the U-15 South American Championship 2013 in Bolivia . There are a total of 20 international matches in this age group for him. In doing so, he scored a hit. He made his debut in the Uruguayan U-17 team under coach Santiago Ostolaza in a 3-0 win in the friendly international match against Paraguay on May 13, 2014. He was a member of the squad at the U-17 South American Championship 2015 in Paraguay , at the Uruguayan 5th place. By the time the tournament started, he had played a total of twelve international matches in the U-17 (no goal). In the course of the tournament itself, eight more international appearances followed (one goal). In 2015 he was also one of the U-18s shortlisted.
