Roberto Laiseka

Roberto Laiseka Jaio (born June 17, 1969 in Gernika ) is a former Spanish cyclist .

Laiseka became a professional in 1994 with the later Euskaltel-Euskadi team Euskadi, where he drove until his retirement in 2006. He celebrated his first successes in 1999 when he came second in the Tour of Asturias and sixth in the Tour of the Basque Country and Euskal Bizikleta . In September he achieved his first professional victory by winning a mountain stage at the Vuelta a España . In 2000 he won another stage in the same race and finished sixth in the overall standings, although he lost a lot of time in the time trial. His team was invited for the first time at the 2001 Tour de France . In the Pyrenees he shone with two consecutive second places and a subsequent stage win. After that, its shape curve began to decline. However, he was able to win a stage at the Euskal Bizikleta 2004 and the mountain finish in Cerler at the Vuelta a España 2005 .

After the 2006 season, he ended his career at the age of 37.
