Roberto Russo (director)

Roberto Russo (born September 28, 1947 in Rome ) is an Italian film director and producer .

Life

Russo began his professional career as a photographer. In this function he was also engaged in the mid-1970s for the stills of some film productions. In 1983 he presented his first film Flirt as a director, producer and screenwriter , for which he was awarded the David di Donatello in 1984 for best directorial debutant. In this film about a menage a trois , his partner Monica Vitti played the leading role. After a series of critically acclaimed short films, she also made his second (and last) work three years later, Francesca e mia . Another three years later, Russo was the producer and writer of Vitti's own Scandalo segreto .

Russo and Vitti married in 2000 after a 27-year relationship.
