Robo (unit)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Robo , also called Rojo , was a grain measure widespread in Navarre , which was still used in Spain after the introduction of the new Spanish (actually French) measures and weights from January 1859 . It was the namesake for the associated area measure Robada , which was used as a sowing measure . A Robada was calculated with 898 square meters , so almost 9 ares .

Like the name of the related arroba, used throughout Spain, the word comes from Arabic .

Examples from Pamplona :

  • 1 rojo = 30.5255 liters = 0.55 kastil. Fanega
  • 1 Robo (Rojo) = 16 Almudas (= 1.758 liters) = 28.13 liters
