Robot (manga)
Robot is a series of art books and manga - anthologies , including the drawings of various mostly Japanese artist. The series was created by Range Murata as a trailblazer for emerging artists to publish their work. The first volume was published on October 21, 2004, the tenth and final volume was published on February 7, 2008.
In English in the USA, volumes 1 to 3 were published by Digital Manga Publishing from August 16, 2005 to December 31, 2006 and volume 4 by Udon Entertainment in December 2007. In France, the first volume was published in 2006 by Kami. The series was then continued by Glénat who published the second volume in March 2008, the first volume again in February 2009 and then all the remaining volumes until January 2012.
The manga critic Jason Thompson described in the addendum 365 Days of Manga to Manga: The Complete Guide the first volume as “ original dôjinshi with fabulous production values […] showcas [ing] the diversity of Japanese artists ” (German: “original dōjinshi with fabulous production values that show the breadth of Japanese artists ”).
