The Rocher du Douanier ( French for customs officer rock ), also known as Douanier Rock , is a small and rocky island off the coast of the East Antarctic Adélieland . It is located immediately east of Point Alden , which separates the Adélieland from the Georg V coast .
Participants in a French Antarctic expedition led by André-Franck Liotard (1905–1982), which lasted from 1949 to 1951, discovered the island and gave it the allegorical name based on its geographical location.
