Rock 'n' Roll Juvenile is a music album by Cliff Richard from 1979. The album includes his most successful single We Don't Talk Anymore and Carrie .

background

The recording sessions for the album began on July 18, 1978, even before his previous album was released. Over the next few days, the instrumental accompaniment for most of the songs was recorded, while the vocals were partly recorded much later. The last vocal recording was on June 30, 1979, almost a year after the first instrumental recordings. The last song recorded on the album was We Don't Talk Anymore , which was recorded in just one day.

Rock 'n' Roll Juvenile was the first album that producer Terry Britten and Cliff Richard collaborated. The title song Rock 'n' Roll Juvenile was written by Richard himself.

July 1979, We Don't Talk Anymore was released as a single. The single was enthusiastically received by the British public, topped the UK charts for four weeks and became a million seller in 1979. In total, the song has been sold over three million times to date.

After Richard's previous album Green Light , which sold only sluggishly, EMI released Rock 'n' Roll Juvenile on September 7, 1979. The album immediately entered the UK's Top 10 album charts, stayed there for 21 weeks and reached the top spot Third place. Another Top 10 position was achieved by Richard with the single release of the song Carrie in March 1980. The song is considered one of Richard's best pieces; Allmusic calls it "the most electrifying track of his career".

Rock 'n' Roll Juvenile ensured that the revival of Richard's career, which began in 1976 with the album I'm Nearly Famous , lasted well into the 1980s. The album was digitally remastered and re-released on CD in 2001 .
