Rock Werchter is a music festival that has been held in Werchter in Belgium since 1974 between the end of June and the beginning of July.

Alongside Sziget , the Glastonbury Festival and the Roskilde Festival, Rock Werchter is one of the four largest annual music festivals in Europe. It won the Arthur Award for the best festival in the world in 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007 . It has been designed for 88,000 visitors every day since 2014, with a total of around 149,500 people visiting the festival.
history
Torhout-Werchter (1974 to 1998)
The first festival took place in 1974 as a one-day event. Over the years Torhout-Werchter developed into one of the largest music festivals in Belgium. Only from 1996 did Torhout-Werchter take place on two days. Back then it was a double festival in two different places, Torhout and Werchter.
Rock Werchter (1999 to today)
From 1999 the festival only took place in Werchter. From 2000 the festival lasted three days and since 2003 four days. During this time the festival received the Arthur Award four times.
