The Rockville Bridge is a truss bridge over the Virgin River in Rockville , Utah . The single-lane 66-meter-long bridge was built in 1924 for the National Park Service as part of the creation of a connection between Zion National Park and the northern part of Grand Canyon National Park . Until 1930 it was heavily frequented by tourist traffic, which shifted to this more direct and weather-independent connection with the completion of the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway .
The Parker / Camelback truss bridge was designed by the Bureau of Public Roads and built by the CF Dinsmore Company , with the steel structure supplied by Minneapolis Steel & Machinery Company . It is the only remaining bridge of this type in Utah and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995 (NRHP #: 95000982).
