Rodaan al-Galidi (* 1971 in Iraq ) is a writer of Iraqi origin living in the Netherlands .

Life

Al-Galidi was born in southern Iraq in 1971. His exact date of birth is not known. The official date is July 1st. He studied civil engineering in Iraq, but fled the country to avoid his upcoming military service. In 1998 he finally came to the Netherlands on his escape. At first he was denied asylum . He has had a permanent residence permit since 2007 . In 2011 he surprisingly failed the Dutch naturalization test . Al-Galidi blamed the questions used for its failure.
