Rodney Arismendi

Rodney Arismendi (born March 21, 1913 in Río Branco , Uruguay , † December 27, 1989 in Montevideo ) was a Uruguayan politician and Marxist theorist.

In 1930 he became a member of the Partido Comunista de Uruguay (PCU) (German: Communist Party of Uruguay), which he represented in parliament from 1946 to 1973. From 1955 he was General Secretary of the PCU, in 1975 he was expelled by the military dictatorship and went into exile in Moscow. His daughter Marina Arismendi is also a well-known politician for the PCU.
