Rodrigo Díaz Cortez

Rodrigo Díaz Cortez (* 1977 in Santiago de Chile ) is a Chilean writer.

Life

In 2000 his first book was published, the volume of short stories "La taberna del vacío". With the proceeds he financed a one-way flight to Spain , where he financed his living as an aircraft loader and car parker and wrote on the side. In 2007 his first novel “Tridente de plata” was awarded the Premio Mario Vargas Llosa. The prize money enabled him to acquire a taxi driver's license. His second novel "Poeta bajo el mar" made it into the final round of the literary prizes "Premio Ciudad de Barbastro" in 2008 and "Qué Leer" in 2010. Díaz Cortez now lives in Barcelona , where he runs a writing workshop, works on a cultural magazine and drives a taxi.
