Roger Alan Wade

Roger Alan Wade is an American songwriter and country singer . Before starting his solo career, Wade worked for country singers like Johnny Cash , Waylon Jennings and George Jones . He wrote the song Country State of Mind (1986) for Hank Williams Jr. , which reached number two on the Hot Country Songs . His songs and lyrics were used several times on the television show Jackass , in which his cousin Johnny Knoxville starred. If You're Gonna Be Dumb, You Gotta Be Tough was used in the movies Jackass: The Movie and Jackass: Number Two .

His texts often deal satirically with the clichés of rednecks and honky tonk .

For Ryan Dunn , who died in 2011 , he wrote "The Light Outlives the Star".
