Roger Gilbert-Lecomte

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Roger Lecomte (born May 18, 1907 in Reims , † December 31, 1943 in Paris ) was an avant-garde French poet. He called himself Roger Gilbert-Lecomte .

Life

Gilbert-Lecomte was one of the founders of the group Le Grand Jeu and the literary-philosophical journal of the same name, which appeared in 1928–1932.

Lecomte died of tetanus infection due to dirty hypodermic needles, in connection with his experimental drug experience. He is buried in Reims.

For a long time his independent work was perceived at best as a footnote to the history of French surrealism . In recent years it has been rediscovered and republished, also in English and American translations.
