Roger Roberts (2008)

(John) Roger Roberts, Baron Roberts of Llandudno (born October 23, 1935 ) is a Welsh Liberal Democratic politician.

Roberts studied at the University College of North Wales and the Handsworth Methodist College in Birmingham . In 1957 he became a Methodist pastor and was superintendent of Llandudno for 20 years .

Roberts was president of the Welsh Liberal Party for many years and then the Liberal Democrats . He was a councilor in the Aberconwy District Assembly for several years and was a five-time candidate for the Conwy constituency seat . His son Gareth Roberts ran for the same parliamentary seat in 2005.

Roberts was promoted to Life Peer as Roberts of Llandudno , of Llandudno in the County of Gwynedd, and has since sat in the House of Lords for the Liberal Democrats .

Roberts is a widower and has three children.
