The Rohrerhaus

The Rohrerhaus is a listed farm in Sarnthein in South Tyrol . The Rohrerhof was first mentioned in 1288, making it one of the oldest farms in the Sarntal . It is owned by the Sarntal community and is now used as a museum and event location.

history

The earliest mention of the Rohrerhof can be found in the land register of the Tyrolean Count Meinhard II , a state-wide list of income from 1288. Several certificates and documents attest to the continued existence of the farm. Since it was first mentioned, four genders (families) lived in the house. The first family, also called the "Rohrer" family, ran the farm for around 250 years, around six generations. Their successors, the "von Gagers", lived in the Rohrerhaus for about 140 years, four generations. In the meantime the house was expanded and got a larger room. The Gothic paneling probably dates from the 16th century. In 1703 the house was extended on the mountain side and got an upper floor and the roof that still exists today. In 1775 a first census of the houses and farms in the Sarntal was carried out and entered in the land register. Of the more than 200 farms in the Sarntal, the estimated value of the Rohrerhof was in second place. At that time, the Oberauch family spent four generations in the Rohrerhaus. The last family was the "Gruber" family, who had lived in the Rohrerhaus since 1850.

In 2002 the municipality of Sarntal bought the farm and used the house as an event location and also as a museum.

The Rohrerhaus is now used as a museum. The exhibition tells the history of the Rohrerhof, which is over 700 years old, and also gives an insight into the Tyrolean and Sarner farming tradition. The museum is open in summer and guided tours are mostly offered in the afternoon. The museum can also be rented as an event location.

society

The "Rohrerhaus" association was founded on March 9, 2004. With Decree No. 146 / 1.1 of May 7, 2009, the association was entered in the national directory of voluntary organizations. The aim is to preserve and cultivate the cultural and historical value of the farm and pass it on to future generations. On March 10, 2005, the Sarntal community handed over management of the Rohrerhaus to the association.
