Pierre Albert Castanet

Pierre Albert Castanet (born February 20, 1956 in Harnes ) is a French musicologist and composer .

Life

Castanet was initially the leader of a big band and directed an ensemble for new music. In 1992 he received his doctorate in musicology with Jean-Michel Vaccaro at the Université François Rabelais de Tours / École normal supérieure de Paris on the French composer Hugues Dufourt .

He then taught at the Paris Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris as part of a doctoral program offered by the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales , the Sorbonne , the IRCAM and the CNRS in Paris . In 2004 he was appointed emcee at the Cité de la musique / Philharmonie de Paris . He is currently professeur associé at the Paris Conservatory and a professor at the Départements de musicologie of the Université de Rouen . In Rouen he supervised several dissertations. He also heads the Département des métiers de la culture (CMOPC) and is president of the Center international de recherches en esthétique musicale (CIREM), whose magazine Les Cahiers du CIREM he founded in 1986. He is also a member of the Center Iannis Xenakis at the university .

He has specialized in contemporary music and has published articles a. a. on Roland Auzet , Luc Ferrari , Michaël Levinas , Alain Louvier , Ivo Malec , Laurent Martin , Gilles Racot , Jean-Claude Risset and Giacinto Scelsi . Castanet, who is himself a laureate of the Coup de Cœur , is currently a member of the Musique Classique and Musique Contemporaine commissions of the Académie Charles-Cros in Paris. In 2000 he was awarded the Grand Prix ​​des Muses for the publication Tout est bruit pour qui a peur (1999) . Catanet is also the director of music collections such as Silences of the Éditions Michel de Maule in Paris.

In 2015 he became a member of the Académie des sciences, belles-lettres et arts de Rouen .

He also appears as a composer of his own works (orchestral and chamber music, etc.).
