Pipeline marking
The pipe marking is of great importance primarily in industrial plants and commercial buildings with complex building technology, such as hospitals . The pipelines to be marked are marked on the outside by color and number code, depending on the flow material. Pipelines can be marked with marking tapes or arrow-shaped signs. The flow substance is displayed as text and, depending on the type of substance, special colors indicate hazards. Basis: According to VBG 1 § 49 as well as that of DIN 2403 . VBG 1 has been replaced by BGV A1 and no longer contains Section 49. The labeling of pipelines for technical gases and liquids is also specifically standardized in other standards: Ship pipe identification ISO 14726, ship pipe identification SBG VG85009, identification tapes DIN 2404 heating systems, medical pipe identification EN 15908 and DIN 2405 (pipelines in refrigeration systems and cooling equipment - labeling). Large industrial plants and power plants have their own regulations, which are mostly based on DIN 2403.
The color code selected in DIN 2403 corresponds in some cases to the color code of the gas cylinder .
Another common marking is to mark the pipe according to the intended use, which is especially common in fire protection (example: riser pipe , sprinkler pipe )
Heating and plumbing installation
In building technology, the following abbreviations are used in heating and sanitary installations to identify the pipes and on planning documents.
- TW - drinking water
- BW - operating water (does not meet the requirements for drinking water, for example. Clarified water )
Marking according to DIN EN 806 part 1:
- PWC - Potable Water Cold, ie: drinking water , cold - color code: green - previous code: "KW" for cold water
- PWH - Potable Water Hot, ie: drinking water, warm - color code: red - previous code: "WW" for hot water
- PWH-C - Potable Water Hot-Circulation, i.e.: drinking water pipe, warm, circulation - color coding: purple
- SW - black water ( dirty water with faeces )
- GW - gray water (waste water without faeces); GW-A - gray water system
- KW - clear water (purified gray water)
- VL - flow of the heating circuit ; alternatively: Hz V
- RL - Return of the heating circuit : alternatively: Hz R
