Shōhaku

Shōhaku ( Japanese 肖柏 ; * 1443 ; † May 4, 1527 ) was a Japanese Waka and Renga poet. Shōhaku also led the writers ' names : Muan ( 夢 庵 ), Botange ( 牡丹 花 ) and Rōkaken ( 弄 花 軒 ).

Shōhaku wrote in 1488 in Minase with his teacher, the Buddhist monk and poet Iio Sōgi , and Sōchō , another student of Sōgis, the Renga collection Minase sangin hyakuin . The work is considered one of the best in this genre. He also worked on Sogi's Shinsen tsukubashu , a Renga collection that also includes new rules for writing Renga. In addition, Shōhaku wrote a commentary on Ise Monogatari , Ise monogatari shōbunshō , and a treatise on Renga poetry Shōhaku kōden .
