Rokkesten (Paradisbakkerne)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rokkesten

The Rokkesten weighing around 25 tons in the Paradisbak kerne on the Danish island of Bornholm is a boulder and one of several rocking stones on the island (others were found in Almindingen and Rutsker Højlyng). There are around 175 erratic boulders on the island (and in the rest of Denmark). They were the subject of folklore. The blocks were broken from the bedrock during the Ice Age , transported and left behind when the ice melted about 12,000 years ago.

The large stone grave Rokkesten (also called Kong Kjelds Høj) is located near Hillerød on the island of Zealand . The boulder Rokkesten Rutsker is located in Rutsker Højlyng on Bornholm.
