Roland 138 BPM (* 1964 as Roland May ) is a German techno - DJ and - musicians .

Roland 138 BPM is considered a pioneer of the German techno scene. Alongside Tanith , he was one of the resident DJs of the influential Tekknozid events in 1990/1991 . He was one of the first resident DJs of the Berlin club Tresor , the Berlin Bunker and the Walfischs .

Known above all for his precise mixing, the DJ received the addition of 138 BPM to his name for the fact that his mixes were always tuned to high BPM numbers. It started with Roland 128 BPM , increased to 138 BPM in mid-1991, until it was finally called Roland BPM unlimited due to its preference for fast gabber sounds . Roland BPM was one of the best known and most popular DJs in Berlin in the early years. He also played at some festivals, raves and in many clubs. However, its cult status was limited to Berlin.

He produced some pieces of music for various compilations, partly in cooperation with Mijk van Dijk or Alex Weißer .

In the mid-1990s he was drawn to the then very strong Goa trance scene in Hamburg , where he played as a resident DJ at the Waldheim trance parties in the then powerhouse on St. Pauli.

He later withdrew from the techno scene, sold his record collection and has been working as a geriatric nurse ever since. Sporadically he still appears as a DJ, including once a year from 2007 to 2011 at the Berlin event series Back to Basics .
