Jean Roland Quignon (born December 19, 1897 in Paris , † May 12, 1984 in Nesles-la-Vallée ) was a French film architect and director .

Live and act

As a young man, Jean Roland Quignon was taught the art of painting by his artistically active father, the painter Fernand Quignon. He then attended the École des Beaux Arts in his hometown of Paris , where he also received the theoretical tools. From 1923 Quignon worked as a set designer for a decade, including for a short time in Germany.

In 1933 he switched to film. Here, over the next two decades, he designed the buildings for an abundance of entertainment productions, which were popular but have no significance in terms of film history. His film constructions mostly designed dramas, occasionally he also provided the sets for costume fabrics, screen operettas and comedies such as Atoll K , the last film with Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy . Since the mid-1950s, Quignon had occasionally tried his hand at filming, with not that great response.
