Roland Schröder (media scientist)

Roland Schröder (* 1963 ) is a German media scientist . At the private University of Applied Sciences Europe in Iserlohn , he was dean for the “Media & Communication” department. He has been President of the EBC University since April 1, 2018 .

Roland Schröder received his doctorate from the Ruhr University in Bochum . His doctoral thesis dealt with journalistic culture in Sweden after the Second World War . He then worked in various positions at Westfälischer Anzeiger and as press spokesman for a member of the Bundestag . Between 1999 and 2002 Schröder worked as a developer and editor for websites.

Afterwards he was managing director of the Erich Brost Institute for international journalism at the TU Dortmund , where he was also employed as a lecturer. In this role he was the coordinator of the EU project “Adequate Information Management in Europe” funded in the sixth research framework program. Roland Schröder has also been a lecturer in media management at BiTS Iserlohn since 2002. He first worked as a lecturer , then headed the Sports & Event Management and Communication & Media Management courses, among other things . He is now dean of the Media & Communication department , heads the Journalism & Business Communication Bachelor program and the PR & Corporate Communication Master’s degree . As an authorized signatory , he supports the student company foundation Weiße Q Consulting . In 2013, Schröder moved as campus manager from the BiTS campus in Iserlohn to the Hamburg location, which will start studying with five bachelor's degrees in the fields of business and media in the 2013/14 winter semester.

His research focuses on international media structures, user habits and the convergence of the media.
