Roland Wiese

Roland Michael “Benno” Wiese is a former German national basketball player who played for Wolfenbüttel and Bamberg in the Bundesliga.

career

In the summer of 1974, Wiese, who was also known by his nickname “Benno”, took part in the European championship in France with the German national junior team. In 1975 he played five full international matches for Germany.

At club level, Wiese wore the shirt of MTV Wolfenbüttel in the basketball league . In 1978 the 2.07 meter long inside player moved within the Bundesliga to 1. FC Bamberg , with whom he missed staying in the first division in the spring of 1979. In the second division season 1980/81 Wiese was in Bamberg's team-internal basket hunter list behind the American Kennith Sweet with 305 points in second place. In 1982 Wiese and the Bambergers managed to return to the Bundesliga.
