Rolf-Jürgen Gleitsmann-Topp

Rolf-Jürgen Gleitsmann-Topp (* 1950 ) is a German technical historian and professor for the history of technology at the University of Karlsruhe (TH).

Life

Gleitsmann-Topp studied political science with the minor subjects economics and business administration at the University of Hamburg . He graduated in 1978 with a diploma (Dipl.pol.). In 1983 he was at the University of Hamburg in the subjects of history and art history for Dr. phil. PhD.

From 1987 to 1989 Gleitsmann-Topp was senior curator at the State Museum for Technology and Work in Mannheim. Since 1990 he has been professor for the history of technology at the University of Karlsruhe. He is also head of the technology history department there.

His areas of expertise include the history of technology from antiquity to the present, the history of energy, resources and the environment, manufacturing technology, the glassworks / mining industry, the history of nuclear energy, the history of everyday technology and the history of industrialization.
