Rolf Büttner

Rolf Büttner (born July 9, 1949 in Garding , Schleswig-Holstein ) was a member of the federal board of the United Service Union (ver.di) from 2001 to March 2007 and head of the postal services, freight forwarding and logistics department. In April 2006, after being elected by the ver.di union council, Büttner succeeded Franz Treml as vice-chairman of ver.di. In May 2007 he was elected President of UNI Postal at the World Post & Logistics Sector Conference of the UNI Global Union. He is also the President of UNI Postal Europa.

Life and professional development

After his training as a post boy in Hamburg , he made his way up to the middle post service and worked in various areas of the Deutsche Bundespost . After years of voluntary work for the Deutsche Postgewerkschaft (DPG), he became head of the youth department at the main board of the DPG in 1982 and thus worked full-time for his union . From 1990 he headed the trade union education department for a year and then the organization / shop stewards department until 2000. In 2000 he became a member of the executive board of the DPG and was responsible for the postal services area until ver.di was founded. From 2001 to 2006 he was a member of the national board of ver.di and has been a member of the UNI World Board and UNI European Board since the World President of UNI Post + Logistics. Büttner has been a member of the SPD since 1965 .

He lives with his wife Regine Büttner in Bingen am Rhein .
