Rolf Baumann (born September 11, 1958 in Meiningen ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and was a member of the Thuringian state parliament from 2006 to 2014 .

education and profession

After attending the polytechnic high school , Baumann completed an apprenticeship as a mechanic for data processing and office machines from 1975 to 1977 .

From 1977 to 1991 he worked as an employee in the craft production cooperative in Meiningen.

politics

In 1990, Rolf Baumann was appointed to the SPD's East Party Executive Committee for employee issues and then joined the SPD in 1991.

From 2000 to 2004 Baumann was the personal advisor to the chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the Thuringian state parliament. In 2004 he became a member of the district council of Schmalkalden-Meiningen and 2nd alderman of the district council of Schmalkalden-Meiningen - both in voluntary work. From 2004 to 2006 he was a member of the Meiningen City Council.

On July 17, 2006, he became the successor to Andreas Bausewein's list of member of the Thuringian state parliament in the 4th electoral term . There he was a member of the budget and finance committee. He was also vice chairman of the Committee on Economy, Technology and Labor. In the state elections in 2009 he was elected to the 5th Thuringian state parliament via the state list of his party, but lost his mandate in the state elections in 2014 because neither his 16th place on the SPD state list nor his first vote result (18.9%) in the constituency Schmalkalden-Meiningen I were sufficient for re-election.

Other offices

Rolf Baumann has been a member of the board of the federal work group since 1995 and has chaired the state work group since 1996 . In addition, he has been a board member of the Protestant Association for Work and Social Integration since 2005
