Rolf Lieberknecht (* 1947 in Mettmann , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German sculptor . Since 1989 he has been a professor for sculpture and three-dimensional design at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Essen . Wind kinetic sculptures and laser installations are characteristic of his work.

Lieberknecht studied from 1967 to 1979 at the Technical University of Berlin and at the Royal College of Art in London. From 1982 to 1987 he was an artistic assistant and lecturer at the Berlin University of the Arts with Günter Ohlwein . Since 1971 he has regularly participated in exhibitions.
