Rolf Mitzner

Rolf Mitzner (born January 23, 1931 in Riga ) is a German chemist.

Life

From 1937 to 1939 he attended elementary school in Tartu . From 1950 to 1956 he studied chemistry, physics and mathematics at the PH Potsdam . After graduating as Dr. rer. nat. In 1962 and his habilitation in 1964, he was head of the physical chemistry department from 1968 to 1990. From 1990 he held the chair for physical chemistry at the Potsdam University of Education . Mitzner was elected rector of the then Brandenburg State University of Potsdam in September 1990 and was entrusted by Science Minister Hinrich Enderlein with the creation of the University of Potsdam in July 1991 . Mitzner was the founding director of the university from 1991 to 1995.

He researched the kinetics of photochromic compounds and material constants.
