Rolf Spang

Rolf Spang (born March 31, 1953 in Idar-Oberstein ) is a German geographer .

When the Saarland Institute for Regional Studies was commissioned in the mid-1970s to make scientifically sound proposals for the final official naming of the Saarland waters, Spang was concerned with the processing of the Saarland waters names. The official river map of the Saarland from 1978 emerged from this work; In 1980, the interdisciplinary journal Contributions to Name Research published a contribution by Spang on the development of this map with names of waters. 1981 Spang was at the Saarland University with a thesis on the waters behalf of Saarland from a geographical point of view doctorate . This work qualified him as the editor of the series of publications Hydronymia Germaniae on the Saar river basin . Today Spang works in the private sector.
