The Hydronymia Germaniae is a series of publications about the names of waters in Germany. The collection was founded in 1942 by Hans Krahe and now comprises 18 volumes; The editor was Wolfgang P. Schmid . The series is to be digitized in the future.

The individual volumes each deal with a river system or a river section. Within the volumes, all water names of the treated area that are still recorded on topographic maps on a scale of 1: 25,000 are dealt with in alphabetical order. This includes, in particular, references to sources and literature.

Only for some of these missing river basins existed equivalent publications outside of the Hydronymia Germaniae, for example a work by Elfriede Ulbricht for the Saale river basin .

Twenty years after Krahe's death, the complementary series Hydronymia Europaea was founded in 1985 .
