Rolf Wallin

Rolf Wallin (born September 7, 1957 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian composer .

He studied in Oslo and San Diego. In his compositions he combines elements from different genres such as jazz, rock, electroacoustics and orchestral music.

Wallin's opera Elysium had its world premiere in 2016 at the National Opera in Oslo.

Prizes and awards

  • His percussion piece Stonewave was awarded as best work at the 1992 ISCM World Music Days .
  • In 1998 Wallin was awarded the Nordic Council Music Prize for his concerto for clarinet and orchestra .
  • 2005: Lindeman prizes.
  • 2008: Edvard prizes for Stage News in the contemporary music category.
  • 2011: Spellemanprisen as composer for the album Wire and String .
