Rolf Wank

Rolf Wank (born April 16, 1943 in Kettwig ) is a German lawyer and former professor at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and the Ruhr-Universität Bochum .

Life

Wank began studying at the University of Münster in 1962 , which he completed in 1968 at the University of Cologne with the acquisition of the first state examination in law. In 1974, after his legal clerkship, he also passed his second state examination in Cologne. He then worked as a research assistant for Herbert Wiedemann in Cologne. He did his doctorate with Wiedemann in 1977, followed by his habilitation in 1983. This was connected with the award of the venia legendi for the subjects civil law, commercial law, labor law, social law and legal theory.

In the same year he took up his first professorship on a private law chair at the University of Münster. In 1985 he moved to the Ruhr University in Bochum to the chair for civil law, commercial, economic and labor law. There he taught and researched until his retirement in 2011.

Wank did research in particular on labor law. In addition, his main focus was on general civil law, commercial law, social law and methodology.
