Rolle was a counting measure and was limited to the fish, leather, fur and canvas trade.
Germany
- 1 roll of parchment = 5 dozen = 60 pieces of skins
In Hamburg 1 roll = 1 weave = 72 pieces (cubits). The weave had 6 dozen or 72 pieces.
- 1 roll of canvas = 72 cubits (there were also exceptions with 1 roll = 50 cubits.)
In Stralsund and Wolgast , linen was also one of the piece measures for canvas
- 1 roll = 3 sheets
- 1 sheet = 30 cubits
Duvets, including blankets and decorative blankets, were made up and traded according to rolls with different quantities and sizes.
- 1 roll with 8 pieces, each 3½ cubits long and 2½ cubits wide
- 1 roll with 7 pieces, each 3 ¾ cubits long and 2 ¾ cubits wide
- 1 roll with 6 pieces, each 3 ⅞ cubits long and 2 ⅞ cubits wide

- 1 roll with 4 pieces, each 4½ cubits long and 3¼ cubits wide

Russia
In trade with Yuchten in Russia , the role was quality-dependent and fraudulent
- 1 roll of first variety or Gave = 6 pieces or
- 1 roll of Malje = 10 pieces
A pack consisted of 10 to 20 rolls, wrapped with a piece of rubber of the poorest quality (domaschna).
India
Here the role in East India is a unit of mass (measure of weight).
