Eugenio "Pato" Galvalisi (born November 15, 1915 in Salto , Uruguay ; † December 9, 2000 ) was a Uruguayan football player and coach.

player

society

The defensive midfielder (the Spanish position description at that time was: Centrojás ), who stood out for his fighting spirit and his spirited game, began his career in 1933 with Ferrocarril de Salto . In 1934 he moved to the Rampla Juniors before he joined Nacional Montevideo in 1938 . There he quickly rose to become a regular player and crowd favorite, and he played a total of 265 games in which he scored seven personal goals. During his time with the club, the so-called Quinquenio de Oro (in German: the golden five years ) fell, in which Nacional won five championships in a row. By 1949 Galvalisi was thus involved in winning seven Uruguayan championship titles (1939, 1940, 1941, 1942, 1943, 1946 and 1947). In addition, Nacional won the Copa Río de la Plata in 1940 and 1946 , unofficially that of 1942. Before retiring, he played for Defensor in 1950 and celebrated with the club the return to the Primera División .

National team

For the Uruguayan national team, he completed eleven internationals from his debut on July 18, 1935 to his last appearance on February 1, 1942, in which, however, he failed to score. During this period he took part in the Campeonato Sudamericano in 1937 , 1939 and 1942 with Celeste . He was able to win the title of South American champion with his teammates in the latter tournament.

Trainer

After the end of his career as a player, he worked as a coach for the amateur and youth teams of Nacionals . He also trained in first division relegation in 1963 and around 1966 Liverpool Montevideo and reached there in 1966 with his team promotion to the Primera División .

Others

His long-standing association Nacional announced the opening of a library in December 2011, which bears the name Galvalisis and will be located in the youth boarding school Nacionals.
